The general theme through all of these wines – bright, youthful appearance, savory, fresh profile – is exemplified here. Showing a beautiful purple color, indeed purple flowers, cracked black pepper, wet earth and saddle leather lead this Syrah through a less fruity and more subtle tour of the senses. Slowly, tart raspberry and blackberry emerge on the palate, which is light; a salty, mineral, acid-driven take on the grape, to be sure. It’s still nervy, with high-toned fruit, an evergreen coolness and austere, barely-relaxing tannins. Promising with room to grow. (Tasted October 2023)
